Building a data warehouse (DWH) for PANTHEON
A data warehouse (DWH) is a database that brings together data from PANTHEON ERP, webshops, external tools and Excel spreadsheets in one place. Once we receive your specification we build the DWH the way you want it. If you have no specification, we help you design it based on our experience.
What building a DWH model means
A DWH model defines how data from the sources is arranged into tables suited to reporting: which facts you track (sales, purchasing, stock, finance), by which dimensions (customer, item, period, organisational unit) and how often the data is refreshed. A well-built model makes reports fast and reliable.
How we work
- Receiving the specification: what you want to track, from which sources and who needs it.
- Model design: if a specification exists we follow it. If it does not exist or is incomplete, we propose a model based on our experience and agree it with you.
- Building the DWH: joining and cleaning the data and automatic loading.
- Checking: comparing the DWH figures with those in PANTHEON and other sources.
- Maintenance: the DWH is adapted as the business changes.

Do we need a ready specification?
No. If you have one, we build the DWH exactly to it. If not, we use our experience to help you decide which data and indicators you need and how to arrange them in a model.
Which data sources can you connect?
Besides PANTHEON, typically a webshop, external tools and Excel spreadsheets by department. We agree the list of sources during the analysis.
Do we need a DWH, or is Power BI straight on the database enough?
It depends on how complex your reporting is. For a few simple reports a direct database query can do. When data comes from several sources or you need one reliable base, we recommend a DWH.
