Power BI and PANTHEON ERP — data and reports
We connect Power BI to PANTHEON ERP and prepare data for reporting: as you request, we give access to RAW data, direct database queries, or data through a data warehouse. Besides preparing data, we also build Power BI reports for clients ourselves.
Three ways to access the data
We agree the way of access based on your request and the complexity of the reporting:
- RAW data from the PANTHEON database, as it is, according to what you ask for,
- direct database queries, prepared for what the report needs,
- data through a DWH, when different sources are combined or one reliable base is needed. For how we build a DWH, see building a data warehouse.
We build the reports too
We do not only prepare data. For clients we also build Power BI reports and dashboards, for example for management, sales, purchasing and finance. You can build reports yourselves on the data we have prepared, or leave it to us.
What a project looks like
- Analysis: which indicators you need and who uses them.
- Choosing data access: RAW data, database queries or a DWH.
- Building the reports or preparing data for your team.
- Maintenance: reports change as the business changes.
For an overview of the whole topic see Data warehouse and Power BI.
What you need
- PANTHEON with access to the database,
- Microsoft Power BI licenses for users who share reports,
- Datalab’s Connector license for automatic access to the PANTHEON database.

Frequently asked questions
Can Power BI connect directly to PANTHEON?
Yes, through direct database queries or RAW data as you request. For more serious reporting, with several sources, we recommend a data warehouse.
Do you also build the reports?
Yes. Besides preparing data, we build Power BI reports and dashboards for clients. You can also build them yourselves on the data we have prepared.
Do you maintain reports after delivery?
Yes. We maintain the reports on an ongoing basis and change them as your needs change, rather than delivering them as a one-off.
Do we need Power BI licenses?
Sharing reports within the company usually requires Microsoft Power BI licenses. We will recommend a licensing model based on the number of users.
